Merry Christmas 2012

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

4 days until Christmas. This time last year I was on my way down Whistler mountain on my 100th Greyhound bus trip to be with family in Vancouver and friends from Australia. A few years before that, I was leaving the twinkling lights of Oxford street behind in London to again fly over to Canada for a white Christmas.  This year I am home. It’s nice.  (Even with the humidity) A relaxing Queensland Christmas.

Over my next 5 modest days off I am well and truly stoked to not be doing ANYTHING.  I am more than happy this year to just sit and eat, drink and be merry – go to the beach and enjoy time with friends and family. I am so excited to do nothing in fact, that I have compiled a list of my favourite Christmas movies to line up ready to doze off to after a few too many 😉

Love Actually – The classic love stories set in London, which is not only completely hilarious and charming, but reminds me of Christmas time when I lived there:

The Santa Claus – An older classic with Tim Allen at his best, very cute and clearly the best of all the not so funny sequel.

Elf – The funniest Christmas story of all starring Will Ferrell, set in my other favourite town of NYC.  “Francisco! That’s fun to say, Franciscooo"

The Family Stone – A dark comedy all about this family’s particular breed of crazy whilst all staying in thef amily home together over the holiday season. Cringe worthy yet accurate of real life, thanks to SJP.  A stellar cast.

A Muppets Christmas Carol– Probably the oldest of my favourites from childhood, a retelling of the classic Dickens tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, grinch extraordinaire. He is held accountable for his dastardly ways during night-time visitations by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and future.

Home Alone 2 (Lost in New York) – Last but not least, Macaulay in my most favourite role handling the big city on his own as his family flies to Florida without by accident, at Christmas.

I will be doing my best to watch all of these over the next week or so before the New Year.

Bring on 2013! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
